It fits standard interior doors 1-3/8 in thick. Your strike plate screw holes should be 1-5/8 in apart and less than 1-3/8 in from the edge of the frame. Extended frames and exterior doors aren't compatible.

Will my dog get through?

Set the gap so your cat fits and your dog's head doesn't. It works best when your dog is clearly bigger than your cat.

Will it fit my door?

It's made for standard interior doors 1-3/8 in thick. Your strike plate screw holes should be 1-5/8 in apart and less than 1-3/8 in from the edge of the frame. It doesn't fit extended frames or exterior doors.

Can I still close the door?

Yes. The door still closes completely without removing anything, and you open it from either side with the handle as usual.
